Take a quick course tour!

Enjoy 13.1 miles in 9 minutes (if only we could run this fast!) Remember, scenery is subject to change depending on what crops are planted in September. Where there’s corn in this video, there might be soybeans or pumpkins at race time!

Course Safety, Rest Stops, Rehab Tent

Get to know the Bird-in-Hand Half Marathon course. All BIH races are rain or shine. Heat varies from year to year and accommodations are always made to keep runners hydrated. Water and sports drink stations are located at mile 1, 3.5, 5.5, 7.5, 8.75, 9.5, 10.5, 11, 11.5, 12, and 13. Rest stops are available at mile 1, 3, 6.25 9, 10.5, and 12. Additionally, ice buckets and water sprinklers can be found throughout the course during very warm weather.

Minor areas of both the half marathon and 5k courses are unpaved and may be muddy or uneven during heavy rainfall. This is not a closed course, but we attempt to deter vehicle traffic for runner safety. Stay on the left and run against traffic.

Runners-only food and rehab tents are available after crossing the finish line. Runners can sit, cool off, and refuel before meeting up with friends and family at the community picnic. Course relief is available for all who need assistance.

The Bird-in-Hand Half Marathon is a USATF-certified course. The certification code is PA23008NP. To view the course certificate and a detailed course map, please visit this page.
